79. The Journeyman: Curtis Hanson #10: The Bedroom Window (1987)

Happy Shocktober! Thanks to staying relatively on schedule we’re able to cover Curtis Hanson’s breakout thriller The Bedroom Window (1987) for Shocktober, the special month when we only watch horror or horror adjacent movies (like thrillers). We go into how Hanson was finally able to write and direct a movie without studio meddling, the film’s many Alfred Hitchcock references, and what works and what does not. We also talk about how this fits into the career of Steve Guttenberg even though it seems like it shouldn’t, a scene stealing performance by Wallace Shawn, and even talk a little bit about Brian De Palma because why not. This episode’s themed drink was: Maison de Riviére Réserve Vouvray.
